The Screen Industries Research and Training (SIRT) Centre is one of Sheridan’s Research Centres, committed to working directly with industry partners on innovation and training projects while infusing new knowledge into Sheridan’s curriculum. SIRT was established by Sheridan in 2009 and works extensively with students and faculty/staff in areas such as applied learning and research. The Centre has also been made possible by government funding from provincial and federal government levels.

Volumetric Experience

The demo made use of VR backpacks along with Motion Capture software to allow for players to physically walk around a virtual world.

 
 
 
 

Motion Capture

I’ve been mentored by SIRT’s various team leads about key elements and various motion capture software.

  • I’ve been tasked with creating various recordings of motion captured actors

  • Implementation of recordings in Unity

  • Made use of live actor’s in virtual experiences

With my time learning about various forms of motion capture, I had the opportunity to work with various motion tracking technology. These include motion capture suits, HTC vive trackers and Oculus Rift S headsets.
